Delta, a global leading provider of power and thermal management solutions, today announced its participation at COMPAMED 2022 from 14th to 17th November to present its high efficiency medical power supplies including configurable type MEG-A Series, enclosed type MEB Series, open frame type MEP Series, adapter MEA Series, as well as customized medical power solutions for CT scanners, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment, ultrasound machines, anesthesia ventilators, CPAP devices, In Vitro Diagnostic Devices (IVD), and other medical equipment applications. With over 50 years of experience developing high-efficiency power supply systems for a myriad of applications, such as ICT, industrial, medical and aerospace, Delta offers world-class solutions for the medical industry.

Alan Chiang, general manager of Delta’s Industrial Power Supply Business Unit, pointed out, “Delta has accumulated experience in medical power for over a decade. With in-depth electronic technology and market experience, our comprehensive medical power supply portfolio covers a broad range of applications. In addition, our products are designed, manufactured and tested to the strictest standards and comply with international certifications to guarantee the best quality and power efficiency for our global customers.”

This year, Delta will focus on medical power supplies for high-end medical equipment, type BF (body floating) medical equipment, and IVDs, including:

  • CT Scanners and MRI Equipment: As large, high-tech medical devices, CT scanners adopt advanced imaging technologies to obtain detailed internal images of the body. Performing high-speed rotation during the imaging process, CT scanners require a high power, reliable power supply that adapts to the operation. Delta’s configurable power supplies MEG-A Series provide up to 9-slot frames that are compatible with three types of power modules. Users can flexibly configure and build max. 3 kW / 2 ~ 60 VDC power supplies with top-of-the-line power density up to 27 W/inch3. With its compact modular design, scalability and high stability, the MEG-A Series is ideal for providing highly efficient and stable power to CT scanners during constant high-speed rotation. In addition, Delta will unveil a new model of the MEB Series enclosed medical power, the MEB-2K5A. This upcoming model will expand the limit and reach a max. 29 W/inch3 power density to provide excellent power efficiency for MRI and other high-end medical equipment.
  • Ultrasound Machines: Ultrasound machines are widely used to diagnose organ lesions, as well as perform obstetrics and gynecology applications for real-time detection. To fulfill the machine’s requirements for stable power supplies and low noise operation, Delta presents the Open Frame Medical Power Supply MEU Series and Enclosed Medical Power Supply MEB Series. The MEU Series provide 600 – 650 W power output with up to 96% power efficiency. The 650 W model offers convection or forced air cooling options with 5 V standby power and 12 V power for fan operation to ensure stable operation. The MEB Series feature 5 V / 2 A standby power and current sharing function, and offer high efficiency with forced air cooling. Both the MEU and MEB Series support PMBus to realize smart control and reliable power supply for ultrasound machines. In addition, Delta also offers low-power open frame type MEP Series, which is suitable for type BF medical products such as anesthesia ventilators.
  • In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) Devices: These devices perform in vitro tests or analysis on blood, urine, body fluids or tissues without direct contact with patients. They require power supplies that are efficient and stable with excellent cooling. Delta’s Enclosed Medical Power Supply MEB Series provide various output voltages (12 V, 24 V, 36 V, and 48 V) and feature forced air cooling. Moreover, the MEB-500A model has a built-in remote on/off function which allows users to remotely switch on and off the power of the devices. For those who require adapters, Delta also offers the MEA Series medical adapters with IP22 protection. The MEA Series meet Efficiency Level VI and provide safe, high efficiency power, and are suitable for IVD devices and type BF medical equipment such as continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) devices.
